© Annunciation Catholic School 2011-2012 A Honey of a Story Each week, Honey comes to work with our students.  Honey is a is a certified therapy dog who volunteers her time with the Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program.  Honey brings her owner, Elizabeth McDowell, to Annunciation so that she can hear her friends read to her.  She is very popular at Annunciation and is known for being the best reading companion ever! It is important that our skill in reading be worked on every day. Here at Annunciation Catholic School, we have a special visitor that visits with us and allows us to “work our skill”.  Honey is a reading dog that is brought to our school each week by her owner, Mrs. McDowell. Honey sits with the children and listens intently to every word and allows the child to read at their speed. Honey doesn’t have any special story that she likes, just the children reading. Our children benefit from this extra one on one time to enhance their skills in reading. Please join me in thanking Mrs. McDowell and Honey in taking time out of their lives to help our children.
