Despite having the smallest roster of all 6 EIC teams, ACS consistently out-hustled, pressed to force turnovers and played excellent team basketball. Congrats to the five graduating 8th graders - Alex, Andrew, Jason, Thomas, Matthew - and 7th graders Petey and James.

The varsity girls and JV boys teams played hard but lost their second tournament games Saturday to end their tournaments and seasons. Congrats to graduating varisty players 8th graders Sasha and Hayley, 7-graders Amber, Krissy, and Ginny, 6th-grader Rosa and 5th grader Nicole. And for JV boys, great season 6th graders Lucas, Ben, Cameron, Matthew, Matt, and Jared and 5th grader Dennis!

Last week, the ACS Saints Varsity Boys Basketball team beat the Goldsboro Spirit, 37-21, Sat., Feb. 27, to finish the 2009-2010 undefeated at a historic, 9-0, a first for ACS varsity boys. With last week's two wins against St. Peter's, the Saints clinched the EIC Conference Championship.

From Coach Durbin: "I would like to say that it has been longer than 15 years or more since the Annunciation Boys Basketball Program has had a winning season, if it ever has. Our common record in the past has always been 0-10. The 8th grade boys on this year’s team started in 5th grade at 0-10 and went 0-10 in 6th grade. Last year they were 4-6 and now this year they are 9-0.

Last week we beat a St Peter’s team (twice) who has never lost to Annunciation, a huge victory for Annunciation and it makes us the season conference champs."

The Varsity Girls fought hard in their 26-9 loss to Goldsboro, as did the JV Boys, 34-20. Despite continued improvement, the young Varsity Girls finished the season without a win. JV Boys beat the IOP Friars, 30-13 on Feb. 22 for their only win of the season
